Exhibits at Glassell

The LSU School of Arts’ 2024 Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition continues at the Glassell Gallery, Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette St., with exhibits running through May 17. This year, the School of Art expects to graduate one graphic design candidate and five studio arts candidates who have majored in each of the five areas of studio arts: photography, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking and painting. Each Studio Arts candidate will have a solo exhibition at the LSU School of Art’s Glassell Gallery Center.

Gregorian

Tickets are on sale for Gregorian, a German band fronted by Frank Petersen who perform Gregorian chant-inspired versions of modern pop and rock songs, at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 7, in the Manship Theater at the Shaw Center for the Arts. 100 Lafayette St.

At Pointe Coupee

The deadline is April 19 to submit to the Pointe Coupee Arts Council’s 14th “Treasures of Pointe Coupee” exhibit, which opens May 31 at the Poydras Center, 500 W. Main St., New Roads. “Treasures” showcases original artwork from local and regional artists that present two- and three-dimensional works.

This year’s curator is Brandon Certain, a native New Orleans resident who attended graduate school at Tulane University, where he earned a master’s degree in architecture and a master’s degree in sustainable real estate development. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from LSU with a concentration in drawing and painting. He was also a member of the LSU football team.

Jazz fundraiser

Tickets for the Pointe Coupee Historical Society Jazz Fundraiser are on sale from noon to 3 p.m., Sunday, April 29, on the grounds of the Poydras Center, 500 W. Main St., New Roads.

Sending “Art Flow”.

The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge is calling for proposals for its “Art Flow” Biennial, the metropolitan city’s premiere juried exhibition of works by visual artists in the Arts Council’s 11-parish area. Entries inspired by the phrase “There’s no place like home” are encouraged to be both literal and metaphorical.

The submission deadline is March 27, with notification of selection March 29. The exhibition will run from April 5 to May 15 in the Shell Gallery at the Cary Saurage Community Arts Center, 233 St. Ferdinand St.

In the City of Arts

Auditions for Cité des Arts’ fall production of James Goldman’s The Lion in Winter, directed by Joe Riel, will be from 11:30am to 3pm on April 6-7 at Cité des Arts, 109 Vine Street in downtown Lafayette.
