At ABHK, Antenna Space presents Alison Katz’s work Between the Cock and the Bed, which explores the complexities of contemporary art and masculinity. Through playful ambiguity, Katz challenges the notion of a different artistic style, using symbolism such as a swift rooster approaching Edvard Munch’s bed to penetrate the deeper layers of consciousness. She expands the concept of the bed to represent mystery and rejuvenation, tapping into ineffable motifs that extend beyond art itself.

Palileo’s paintings, characterized by a fusion of rich and vibrant colors, will be featured in a gallery showcase at Art Basel Hong Kong. Her work delves into complex and multi-layered compositions, often delving into her personal connection to the Philippines and exploring her family’s history within the context of the United States.

Empty Gallery will show artworks by Jes Fan, Taro Masushio, Henry Shum, Jacqueline Kiyomi Gork, Doris Guo, Tishan Hsu and Raha Raissnia for Art Basel Hong Kong 2024. This collection of works explores the concept of the self or the body as an emotional archive , which suggests that its unconscious depths can be tapped to transcend personal, tribal, or identity-based narratives that maintain the illusion of subjective autonomy.

LINSEED, Stand 1C32

LINSEED will present British-Singaporean artist Cara Chin’s solo project, Shh the Film Is Starting, in the Discovery Sector of Art Basel Hong Kong 2024. Inspired by Chin’s recent research on apocalyptic and post-humanist films, the presentation focuses on the concept of an anachronism where the present is haunted by the future. Through a collection of 3-D printed and handcrafted sculptures, the exhibition taps into the pervasive fear of the unknown and contemporary anxieties regarding the intersection of ecology and technology.

Public Gallery, Stand 1C37

Public Gallery will present a solo stand showing new works by London-based Taiwanese artist Steph Huang, marking both the gallery and the artist’s debut. Building on the artist’s previous solo exhibitions at Goldsmiths Center for Contemporary Art (2022) and the Taipei Museum of Fine Arts (2022), the presentation explores cultural symbols of playful pleasure such as markets, restaurants and gambling. Huang explores how these spaces convey intersecting colonial legacies through their architecture, interior design, ingredients, traditions, etymology and translation. The exhibition will feature blown glass, cast metal and wood sculptures, highlighting the casual and precarious nature of exchange centered around food and eating experiences.
