Volleyball
-The Vikings are preparing for the 2023 #HLVB tournament, entering this week’s tournament as the 6 seed.
-Cleveland State will open play with the first contest against No. 3 Milwaukee on Friday, November 17, with the semifinals scheduled for Saturday, November 18 and the championship on Sunday, November 19.
-Last season, the Vikings went 2-1 to close out regular season play, with 3-1 wins over Purdue Fort Wayne and Milwaukee.
Men’s Basketball
-Cleveland State will be in double action this week, hosting Canisius on Wednesday, November 15th before traveling to Eastern Michigan on Saturday, November 18th.
-Last season, the Vikings went 2-1 in the opening week of the 2023-24 season, with wins against Defiance and Ohio, and the Bobcats’ first win since 1998.
-Through three games, Tristan Enaruna is averaging 15.7 points per game, while Tae Williams is averaging 15.0 ppg, and Drew Lowder is averaging 13.7 ppg.
Women’s Football
-Cleveland State will continue the 2023-24 season with its home opener on Saturday, November 18, hosting Central Michigan at 2:00 pm.
-The Vikings enter the week with a 1-1 record on the young season, including a 74-66 win over Loyola last time out.
-Destiny Leo had a 33-game hitting streak in his first week of action, while Colbi Maples added a double-digit scoring game in his first game as a Viking.
A fence
-The Vikings return to action on Sunday, November 19, participating in the OSU Elite Invitational.
-This will be the second of six events for Cleveland State this season, and the last event before the end of the calendar year.
Bath & Soak
-Cleveland State will host 11Th The annual Magnus Cup this week, welcomes teams to the Busbey Natatorium from Thursday, November 16th to Sunday, November 19th.
– The first swim will be held at 9:00 am Thursday through Saturday, and the last will begin at 6:00 pm Diving will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday through Saturday.
-Sunday will be a long practice session, which will start at 10:00 am
Struggle
-Cleveland State will participate in the first opener of the year at the Navy Classic on Saturday, November 18.
-Finally, Jake Manley (133 pounds), Ben Smith (197 pounds) and Daniel Bucknavich (285 pounds) all won their matches against West Virginia and Duke.
Cross country
-The Vikings closed out the 2023 campaign at the NCAA Regionals for the last time.
-For the first time this season, Cleveland State was led by Madelynn Madison, who completed the 6K course in a time of 23:52.
Women’s Tennis
-Cleveland State closed out the fall portion of its 2023-24 campaign last week, putting on a strong showing at the Bronco Super Challenge.
-Oihane Vicario and Mikaela Konstantinova both posted perfect 3-0 records over the weekend, while Tereze Vevere and Ella Franz were unbeaten in two matches (3-0).
Viking Of The Week Nominations
Daniel Bucknavich, Wrestling
He won all of his matches at the WVU Duals, highlighted by a long-shot victory against then-No. 17 Michael Wolfgram of West Virginia.
Tristan Enaruna, Men’s Basketball
An average of 15.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in the first week of the season, including 22 points, 6 rebounds and six assists in a win over Ohio.
Destiny Leo, Women’s Soccer
Recorded 33 back-to-back games to open the season, shot 59 percent from the floor for the week and posted a perfect 24-for-24 performance from the free throw line.
Emma Walker, Volleyball
Helped the Vikings secure their spot in the #HLVB Tournament with 5.23 digs per set in three games last week, including back-to-back 20-game sweeps against Milwaukee (30 digs) and Green Bay (23 digs).
