A game show
Having won just one of their last seven games in the Championship, it’s fair to say that Kieran McKenna he would have been happy with Ipswich’s recent form.
However, with the only defeat coming at Leeds United, two draws were posted against Leicester City, both equalizing against Ipswich coming in the final minutes.
The match took place on Monday at the King Power Stadium, Jeremy Sarmiento netting the equalizer to extend Ipswich’s unbeaten run to five games in the second round.
Thanks to four draws, however, the Tractor Boys are now just two points clear of fourth, and a change in competition could benefit them after their efforts in the East Midlands earlier this week.
Ipswich booked their place in the last 32 with a 3-1 win at AFC Wimbledon earlier in the month, with McKenna’s side now looking to progress to the fifth round for the second campaign in a row.
In stark contrast, Maidstone have already won six matches to qualify for the division, doing so impressively without the need for a repeat.
Steyning Town, Winchester City, Torquay United, Chesham United, Barrow and Stevenage all lost, Maidstone reached the second round with four goals in a row.
George Elokobi he is doing wonders in his first managerial role and the key is to get back to the National League, a place in the National League South playoffs their best bet is Yeovil Town 15 points ahead of them with two games in hand.
However, with Maidstone playing in the fourth edition of the FA Cup for the first time in their history and 98 places separating the teams in the English football pyramid, Elokobi and his players are keen to achieve the most famous result in their history.
