“Hot Girl Summer” is officially over for Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj, who have been embroiled in a heated internet feud.
The rappers were on friendly terms before tensions flared when Megan, 28, debuted her latest single, “Feeling,” on Friday. While Megan took aim at several unnamed people on the track, many fans believe she was also mocking Minaj, 41, and her husband. This prompted Minaj to diss Megan on Instagram Live and X, formerly known as Twitter.
In a postMinaj called Meghan a “manipulative liar” and claimed she uses dreamers for music.
“Every single album she’s ever released has been a flop,” Minaj wrote of Megan.
Here’s a closer look at their current feud.
While Minaj and Meghan’s feud came to a head on Friday, the drama may have been simmering for the past year.
In March 2023, XXL Magazine reported that Minaj released the song “Red Ruby Da Sleeze”, which referred to horses or stallions in the first verse.
“Seven hundred and ten ’em horses on we fixin’ to leave (Uh-oh)/But I haven’t fucked horses since Christopher Reeves,” the lyrics say.
Publika.az reports that at the time, some fans believed that Minaj’s bar was aimed at Megan, but it is unclear what could have caused this blow. In a separate article in September 2022, Minaj revealed that the couple may have butted heads when she claimed someone on Queen Radio suggested she drink alcohol during her pregnancy. Megan later denied that she was– said in the speech.
Megan started trending on X this Friday after dropping “Feeling,” which shocked some fans with its pointed and unflinching lyrics. One bar in particular sent the Internet into a frenzy: Many believed it was a diss against Minaj and Petty.
“These bastards aren’t mad at Megan, these bastards are mad at Megan’s Law,” Megan said. “I don’t really know what the problem is, but I guarantee you don’t want me to start.”
Megan’s Law refers to a US federal law that requires all states to create sex offender registries and community notifications. Petty is a registered sex offender after pleading guilty in 1995 to the attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl. He spent four years in prison.
In July 2022, Petty was sentenced to three years of probation and one year of house arrest in California for failing to register as a sex offender.
Online entertainment blog Pop Base Minaj shared screencaps on Instagram Live, where she belted out Meghan’s lyrics with her own rap.
“Bad bitch likes 6 legs/ I call her big leg/ bitch fell down/ I said get up good leg,” Minaj sings.
Fans online believe Minaj’s words may have been a dig at Meghan. She says rapper Lanez shot her in the leg in July 2020. grossly negligent discharge of a firearm in connection with a motor vehicle and shooting.
Megan called into US radio show The Breakfast Club to share details about The Feeling. When asked if the song was about a specific person, Megan summed up her stance: “Hit dog gonna scream.”

Megan later shared a photo of herself laughing on her Instagram Stories, with some sites and fans believing her track was a subtle acknowledgment of her intention to attack Minaj.
On her X account, Minaj began liking and retweeting supportive fans. Some posts also condemned Megan.
After Minaj shared a post revealed he called Megan a “manipulative liar” while celebrating his own musical success. Minaj also said that Meghan’s career was failing and brought up her feud with Meghan’s former record label.
“Terrible ACTOR, he can’t cry,” Minaj wrote. “Don’t try to play booker, it’s a piece.”
He added: “Pathological and manipulative liar…Using ghostwriters and still SUCK.”
On Friday, Minaj shared a tweet It referred to Meghan’s late mother and suggested Meghan had lied during her April 2022 interview with Gayle King about her feud with Lanez.
Meghan’s ex-boyfriend Pardison Fontaine was also referenced in the post. People reported that the couple separated in 2023.
But Minaj didn’t stop there. In a separate postMinaj retweeted Fontaine’s newest single, “THEE PERSON,” which many believe is about Megan.
“The reason you grow a 30-year-old tea is because no one loves you and no one will love you,” Minaj said live on Instagram.
