Company Announcement
BUCKSPORT – Greenhead Lobster Products is voluntarily recalling all frozen and refrigerated cooked lobster meat products produced between May 9, 2023, and October 19, 2023, because the product may be contaminated with: Listeria.
Listeria This is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy people may only experience short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria Infection can cause miscarriage and stillbirth in pregnant women.
Although none of the recalled products tested positive for Listeria, recalls are based on the presence of the organism in the processing environment. No other Greenhead Lobster retail products are affected by this recall, including manufactured products.
Recalled Product Greenhead Lobster Fresh cooked lobster meat is sold frozen or refrigerated in 1 to 2 pound packages. or weighing 12 pounds or less. The “best before” date of frozen products is from May 9, 2025 to October 12, 2025, and the “best before” date of refrigerated products is from May 27, 2023 to October 30, 2023. The “best before” date is located on the white label on the front of the package. The recalled products are listed in the appendix.
Products are distributed directly to Maine and New Hampshire and then sold nationwide through wholesale distributors and e-commerce online.
To date, no illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall.
Consumers who have purchased a listed product should not eat it and may return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
