Sky Sports News’ latest broadcast was briefly halted on Tuesday morning when a loud bang was heard on air.

It came as presenter Emma Paton announced the signing of Crystal Palace full-back Daniel Munoz from Genk for £8.5million.

While Paton was making some comments from the Colombian defender after joining the Eagles, a sharp noise was heard in the background, catching him and the spectators by surprise.

However, Paton did his best to calm him down, as he paused and looked to his left to add: ‘I’m sorry about that,’ before going on to say something about Munoz.

He smiled a little at first, before taking the rest of the show without a hitch.

Fellow Sky Sports presenter Olivia Buzaglo said she had caused a backlash when she took to X, formerly Twitter, to explain what had happened.

He wrote: ‘Sorry about the loud noise you heard on Sky Sports News recently. I blame @JamesSavundra for putting his water bottle next to my feet,’ meaning he dropped the bottle.

In another tweet, he shared a video of the incident and added: ’26 seconds in. In the words of @MissEmmaPaton sorry for this,’ Paton then retweeted her.

Co-host Dan Bardell also poked fun at the hilarious incident when he shared a photo of the aforementioned water bottle.

Accompanying the photo, he said: ‘Exciting collaboration on @SkySportsNews this morning. @OliviaBuzaglo X A water bottle.’

According to the original news announced by Paton, Munoz has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at Selhurst Park, with an option for a further 12 months.

The Colombian full-back completed a trial with the club on Friday, before the transfer was finalized on Tuesday morning, after the striker went on strike to force the move.

Munoz is due to watch Tuesday’s Premier League game at home to Sheffield United, but could be in contention for his Palace game against rivals Brighton this weekend.

He joins a Palace side in dire straits, with pressure mounting on the club and Roy Hodgson on the bench following recent fan protests during the Eagles’ trip to Arsenal.

The club have won just one of their last 12 games in all competitions and are now just five points clear of the relegation zone, having played more than 18 games against Luton.

Signed from Colombia’s Atletico Nacional four years ago for $4m, Munoz played 148 times for Genk, helping them to the 2021 Croky Cup before leaving for Palace.
